A Lakeland stone-built house erected in the 1800s, the Scottish-named Dunvegan was originally a family home in a terrace converted to guesthouses in the 1980s. All rooms are modernised to include en-suite facilities, hairdryers, TVs and central heating. The proprietor, Evelyn, is always on hand to ensure that comfort and hospitality are guaranteed.

Windermere is an excellent base from which to explore the Lake District. The village is centrally located, and well connected to all corners of the Lakes via public transport services, including steamboat, bus, train, bicycle hire and even a miniature railway!

If your pleasure is serious hill climbing, or just a leisurely couple of hours’ walking after breakfast, then look no further! The Lakes boasts something for everyone, with attractions including history and heritage locations such as the homes of the infamous Beatrix Potter or wonderful William Wordsworth, the new 2019 Motor Museum with its beautiful architectural renovation at Windermere Jetty, and there’s even the aquarium down at Lakeside. Viewing the lakes and surrounding mountains from the water itself is an ideal way to scope the fantastic scenery.

The area is well known as being a great place to sample all kinds of food, from Ma's country cooking to the connoisseur’s fine dining delights — from the intimate Japanese experience at Ambleside’s “WabiSabi” to the rich and robust French classics at Windermere’s “Francine’s” —  it’s all here to be tasted and explored!
